TVP Polonia grants awards for merit abroad
Polish public TV channel TVP Polonia has presented the awards for “Merit for Poland and Poles abroad.”
This year’s laureates are: sister Rafała, thanks to whom two orphanages in Jerusalem and Bethlehem have been opened, Teresa Nawrot, a lecturer at film-theatre school Reduta-Berlin, Ana Wajszczuk, an Argentinean journalist of Polish origins, artists Jadwiga Barańska and Jerzy Antczak, Marta Kustek, the coordinator of “Polish diaspora bilingual day”, Maria Rekść, the major of the Vilnius region local authority and the Polish Men’s Volleyball team.
The gala presenting the awards took place on Thursday, April 25, in Warsaw. A retransmission of the event will be available to watch on TVP Polonia on May 2 at 20:15 CEST, on May 3 at 2:40 am CEST and on May 4 at 10:50 CEST. Moreover, a review of the gala will be aired on the First Channel of Polish Television TVP1 on May 3 at 9:25 CEST.
The honours have been granted since 1995. They are awarded to people, who serve Polish culture, art, science, education, politics, sports and who contributed to the promotion of Poland in a significant way.
